I have done my homework and heard all kinds of very bad comments and very good comments about Jimenez Arms guns. Yes, I know the history with Jennings and Bryco. Recent reviews seem to be more positive and many naysayers are basing their bad opinions on hearsay and previous reputation. The Jimenez JA-Nine I was interested in was inexpensive and had a lifetime warranty for the original owner. Having done my research, the Jimenez JA-Nine was perfect for my needs of home self defense. You should, however, do your own homework before deciding on the purchase of any firearm. Your needs may be different than mine.
I had a hard time finding local and Internet dealers who sold Jimenez products. None of the "big boys" on the Internet carried them. I stumbled upon the Keel Mountain Munitions Web site and found the best prices and largest selection of the few dealers who carried Jimenez. I didn't know Keel Mountain's reputation, good or bad, and after having been recently scammed of $16.00 from a Chinese eBay seller, I was more than a little bit leery of another online purchasing disaster.
I received the gun quickly. I have not yet shot the Jimenez JA-NINE but I am very pleased with my initial findings. It fits my hands well and the chrome slide and frame look great. At 30 ounces, it is no lightweight. It feels and looks solidly made. The magazine release is a little stiff but should loosen up over time and really is no trouble at all. Based upon recent reviews, I don't expect any problems when firing the weapon.
Fortunately, I can report that buying from Bob at Keel Mountain Munitions was a pleasant experience. Bob took the time to answer a lot of questions I had up front. He was quick to respond via email and worked with me throughout the entire buying process. He shipped the Jimenez immediately upon payment, sent me the tracking ID in the same prompt manner and I received exactly what I ordered NIB, including a receipt for future possible warranty work.
In short, Bob was professional and fair in all of his dealings with me and I would recommend him to family and friends.
