Over the Counter Sales:
Under FEDERAL LAW, ALL firearms must be delivered IN PERSON at our licensed place of business, after the Federal NICS background check. We may only deliver over the counter firearms to residents of the following states:
You must be 21 years old to purchase a handgun.
For local pickup, NICS checks and appropriate Alabama sales tax (5.5% up here) apply. AL sales tax also applies to any shipped order with a billing/delivery address in Alabama.

NICS
National Instant Criminal Background Check System
A check with NICS is required for all firearm transfers from a FFL dealer. We require a NICS check for every firearm sold or transferred from another seller through our store. Gunsmith repairs returned to the person originally bringing the firearm in, and outgoing firearms to another FFL do not require a NICS check.
To start a NICS check, a form 4473 is completed by the customer. 4473s must be filled out by hand, by the buyer, and in our presence. One 4473 can be used for up to five (5) firearms in the SAME TRANSACTION, a new 4473 must be completed for additional transactions.
Proper identification is required. A current state issued Drivers License or ID card with your current address fulfills this requirement. If your address is not correct, additional information will be required.
NICS checks are done at the time the customer intends to pick-up the firearm. The check will result in one of three responses:
A copy of the completed 4473 may be given to the customer upon request.
All original 4473s are retained onsite for 20 years, or until business is terminated.

- Proceed: The customer may take the firearm with them today
- Delayed: NICS cannot determine the status of the customer, and needs additional time to finalize the check. This additional time can be 3 business days or more. If NICS contacts the store, we will call the customer and relay the outcome and advise the customer how to proceed. In any event, the customer may pick up the firearm after 3 business days if there is no response from NICS. Firearms will be held while waiting for the NICS check. The NICS check expires in 30 days, and a new check will have to be conducted after that date.
- Denied: NICS has denied the transaction, and neither the firearm nor ammunition can be transferred. We are not advised of the reason for the denial. Applicants may appeal the reason for the denial, KMM can provide the buyer with the procedure.
A copy of the completed 4473 may be given to the customer upon request.
All original 4473s are retained onsite for 20 years, or until business is terminated.

Firearm Transfers:
Transfers from both FFL holders and private individuals are accepted. We do reserve the right to refuse transfers from parties that have previously caused problems, or will not comply with the following:
Private Party Transfers: The purchase from a private individual is strictly between the buyer and seller. Keel Mountain Munitions, LLC only conducts the required Federal 4473 background check and appropriate paperwork. Any warranty or service is honored by the seller, not Keel Mountain Munitions, LLC, we only act as a transfer agent. Transfers will only be conducted for the person named on the invoice.
Private sellers MUST provide a legible copy of their driver's license or other state issued picture ID. Firearms received without a copy of the seller's identification will be returned COD, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Complete your purchase with the seller and provide them with the following mailing address:

Seller should place the buyer's name on the outside of the shipping box. DO NOT identify the contents as a firearm. ALL packages MUST be sent SIGNATURE REQUIRED, and insurance is highly recommended. If a package is not sent signature required, Keel Mountain Munitions, LLC, is NOT responsible for lost or stolen packages.
Sellers may bring the firearm to our facility, but must provide their current driver's license or other state issued picture ID.
Private Party Sellers do not receive a copy of our FFL. If your seller demands a copy, have them ship through a FFL, or find a different transfer agent. Our FFL status may be confirmed through ATF's eZCheck web site (https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/).
Enter 1-63-XXX-XX-04775 to receive verification of our license. This check satisfies the verification requirement of shipping to a licensed dealer.
FFL Transfers: We will provide the shipping FFL with a copy of our license by fax, email or US Mail. The purchase from another dealer is strictly between the buyer and seller. DELAY/DENIED Response: The NICS check may result in a Delay or Denied response. If DELAY, a transfer of the firearm cannot be completed until a "proceed" has been received or the time required under Federal law passes. Any cost of return shipping, or additional NICS checks are the responsibility of the receiving party. A NICS check will only be conducted for the party named on the invoice, NO SUBSTITUTIONS! A $20 transfer fee will be charged on any returned items, in addition to shipping.
Storage Fees: All firearms, frames, receivers, ammunition, and components will incur a storage fee(s) that have been in our possession (starting the day we received it) over 30 calendar days in the amount of $2.00 per day per item. The only exceptions to this policy are:
Any property not claimed in 180 days will be considered forfeited and becomes the property of Keel Mountain Munitions, LLC.

Firearms will not ship until we have received and verified the receiving agent's Federal Firearms License (FFL). We accept FFLs by email ([email protected]), fax (256-818-0093) and US Mail. Firearms usually ship the business day afternoon following receipt of both the FFL and payment. All handguns are shipped either via common carrier (UPS or FedEx) 2nd day air or USPS Priority Mail. All long guns ship UPS Ground unless other arrangements are made.
Packaging is generally available at no cost, however if the item is irregular or you require special packaging, additional costs may apply. DO NOT bring your item sealed, we must examine each item being shipped. Firearm information must be verified by KMM and properly annotated in the required log book.
Fees are $20 per item within the continental United States PLUS postage. If the firearm is purchased from KMM, the $20 transfer fee is waived. We do NOT ship to foreign countries. All packages are shipped with appropriate insurance and tracking, special requests or expedited shipping will incur additional fees.
