Who is Bob?
I have been involved in firearms and shooting since I was very young. Our dad taught us to understand and respect firearms, which were always present in our home. When we asked, he would satisfy our curiosity and allow us to see and handle his firearms in a safe manner. I started shooting a .22 LR rifle a couple weeks shy of my tenth birthday, and was hooked! When we were on vacation at our property in upstate NY, we (myself and my sisters) could never get enough. Dad taught us the proper stance for several different shooting positions and SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY!
When I turned twelve I joined my dad's gun club and got the opportunity to go with him to the range 3 times a month to continue honing my skills. During my time in the club, I earned up to and including the NRA Distinguished Expert award in the junior division for rifle. While in high school, I was captain and MVP of our varsity rifle team for two years. Our little sister, Donna, is an exceptional marksman and avid hunter, undoubtedly the best of all of us!
I purchased my first handgun when I received my NY carry permit just as I turned 21. It was a Charter Arms Undercover, 5-shot revolver with a 2" barrel. I still have her today, though not carried daily like the old days. Not long after this I joined the Army, and so began a great 24-year career. While in the military, I enjoyed the range time whenever it came up, and usually qualified Expert with the M-16A1 (eyesight gets a little worse as we age) and always qualified Expert with the M-9 9mm Beretta pistol. During my second tour in Germany, I started to acquire the building blocks of my firearms collection through purchases at our local Rod and Gun Club.
In 2006, I retired from the military as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, Patriot Missile System Technician/Tactician, and moved to NE Alabama to accept a job with a local defense contractor. It was a bit of a shock for two metro New York kids (myself and my wife Leslie) to be moving to Alabama, but we LOVE it! Once I got the lay of the land, I found a local gun store with fantastic prices and continued to add to the collection.
I had been considering getting an FFL for several years, and I decided that 2012 was the year for action. I saw several advertisements for FFL123.com and decided to look into it. Brandon’s program is effective and guarantees results. Less than 2 weeks after signing up, I had the application in the mail. Brandon makes it very easy, and he is available for help with the click of a button. I had a couple questions, and he was extremely prompt and responsive. It is nice to know someone is in our corner for this process. Also available on the FFL123 site is a detailed study guide to prep for the ATFE interview, and guides to help you get your business going. When I had my interview, which only lasted a little over an hour, the investigator made the comment that I had "done my homework," thanks Brandon.
The business plan is not just supplementing my collection, but to provide some services to my fellow firearms enthusiasts.
I hope I can grow my love of firearms into a small business, helping others get the maximum pleasure from our common sport. Other areas of interest are amateur radio (licensed in 1975), and of course shooting. I am a 3rd generation Life Member of the National Rifle Association.

- I am providing Alabama transfers for those who buy out of state for just $20. I surveyed the local FFLs, and found this beats most, if not all, of them.
- I am ordering firearms that local folks want if I can beat the local retail price (that can be hard here). I have low overhead and sales tax so hopefully this will work; I already have had several successful special orders.
- I will be selling firearms accessories. To start I will have MILITEC-1 dry impregnated lubricant and Glow-On paints, great for weapon sights. Most of my personal weapons (and some I plan to sell) are already treated with both.
